The Original King of Landing Page Builders - OptimizePress has been reinvented.
OptimizePress has been on the top app lists of marketers around the world for years. And for good reason, as this was one of the first tools to create professional website marketing pages even if you weren’t a designer. OptimizePress 3 claims to reinvent the game again – let’s take a closer initial look at some new features.

What is OptimizePress?
For those of you not yet familiar with OptimizePress, it is a WordPress plugin designed to turn your blog into a full-blown marketing machine. It allows you to create sales pages, up-sell pages and even a full membership site if you want to create a club or sell an online course.
The reason it has been so well loved in the marketing community is because it came at a time (2010) when there were little options to create landing page funnels. In fact, if you wanted to create a sophisticated funnel back then you would have had to hire a designer and coder to get the same features OptimizePress version 1 gave you. It was revolutionary in how it gave you access to both good design and good code to enable advanced functions such as a checkout, up-sells, cross-sells and membership privileges.
No other plugin could do this like OptimizePress did at the time and because of this you literally couldn’t go a day without seeing marketing professional recommend it to their audience.
But a lot has changed since 2010 and numerous competitors have entered with some of the biggest being LeadPages and Clickfunnels and dedicated WordPress page builders like Thrive Architect and Elementor Pro.
All of this left OptimizePress 2 feeling dated and in desperate need of updating which I am so glad they are now doing with this latest version of OptimizePress 3.
James Dyson is the founder and CEO of OptimizePress.
He is actively involved in the business and I sometimes get replies from him regarding certain key promotions such was the case when he updated me on the progress of OptimizePress 3.
Don’t let that fool you though as this is not a one man show and has a team of talented designers, coders and customer support agents to ensure you get the best experience using his app.
When you see the new templates & sections feature you will love the designers especially!
How to use OptimizePress?
The best way to see how to use OptimizePress 3 is to look at the inline editor as discussed in the video below under the section “Fully in-line Editing”. As it stands right now at the end of February 2019 the platform is complete and is in final testing and because of this we have details on new features which I can share with you now.
To summarize you can expect:
- New design elements, page sections, modern themes, overlays, funnels, cart designs and an all new in-line drag-and-drop interface.
But Let’s go into more detail with 5 new key features of OptimizePress 3.
Super Fast Page Load Times
This new feature is all about improving conversion rates because nothing says “losing money” quicker than a slow loading website. Many editors and not just the old OptimizePress 2 suffered from this issue and to address it the team has completely rewritten the code of the live editor to have absolutely no bloat script. Throughout the rebuild of the editor they were using the testing site GTMetrix to see how one change would affect website speed.
See screenshot below.
The result of all this work should be three-fold:
- Speed builds trust which should result in higher opt-in rates on your pages
- More customers as one of the biggest reasons people abandon carts is slow websites
- All this should result in more revenue and profits from your website(s)
This new feature is all about improving the experience of editing your website. Most other editors have a lot of pop-ups and endless sidebar options for editing the page. This can be very confusing especially if you are just starting out and could lead to you giving up on the plugin you bought before you get your first campaign up and running.
This is a big problem but thankfully OptimizePress 3 has the answer with a fully inline editor as seen in the video below.
By having editing functions inline it saves you considerable time building websites – everything is easily available per element you are editing. The team have done this by having a contextual toolbar that hovers over the element you are working on and also by eliminating most sidebar options.
Below is how a contextual bar looks like:
This is important as each new element gives you more power to create new website experiences. This new version will launch with more elements than ever before plus a commitment from the development team to keep adding more when new technologies emerge.
Have a look at a little snippet of elements to expect below.
Sections (A new way to build WordPress websites)
Sections are a new way of building professional websites.
Sections in the new OptimizePress 3 include:
- Hero Sections
- Opt-in Form Action Sections
- Pricing Sections
- High Impact Feature Sections
- Light & Dark Sections
- Team Information Sections
- Testimonial Sections
A lot of what makes a website credible are things that are not immediately identifiable. Design factors such as spacing between elements, how fonts compliment the layout and images and color combinations.
If you are not a professional designer, you are more than likely not going to get this right the first time even designers don’t the first time they play around until they get the perfect design fit. This takes time but with the new sections feature the OptimizePress design team has done this for you and all you have to do is add your text and imagery, saving you literally hours.
As much as having new elements and all is great, it is this Sections feature that should really get you excited.
Edit with any WordPress theme
This is big and something that OptimizePress needed to do with all the other excellent page builders on the market nowadays.
The new OptimizePress 3 page builder works with any WordPress theme allowing you to use all the features you love of your specific theme but now with all the additional elements found in OptimizePress 3.
Of particular interest should be all the marketing elements such as opt-in forms, pop-up overlays, countdown timers and more that will now just work with no fiddly coding or web hooks needed.
Whenever you can delete a plugin because you have another plugin that can do the same thing, you are onto a good thing. Too many plugins can cause issues with compatibility where your website suddenly stops working after an update and it is a common reason for a website slowing down and getting hacked.
So it’s fantastic you can get rid of old plugins with the new OptimizePress 3.

A few thoughts
At this stage we are still waiting for pricing details on OptimizePress 3.
However I suspect it will be the same as before ranging from $97 for core, $197 for Publisher and $297 for Professional. The main difference between the plans is the number of sites you can create ranging from 3 to 30 sites.
Are there Up-sells?
Yes for a company that builds a technology platform built around helping marketers create funnels and up-sells this is to be expected. Thankfully the upsell you are presented with is actually good in the form of a template club to give you access to new designs on a monthly basis.
You don’t need this to use OptimizePress but it’s good to know it’s there if you want.

Do we recommend OptimizePress?
At this stage we can’t give a full recommendation or app score as the app is still in testing but initial signs look great for this pioneering company.
That being said, they really have had to up their game with all the new entrants like LeadPages, Clickfunnels and WordPress page builders like Elementor coming onto the scene.
